Project update

On July 5, 2017, City of Mississauga Council approved Official Plan Amendment (OPA) Number 65 (as adopted by By-law 0134-2017) to implement the site's Master Plan that was approved by City Council on June 8, 2016.

The OPA is critical in establishing the appropriate development policies for the site to secure a future marina use, public parks and waterfront lands.  The OPA is the first of several steps requiring City planning approvals prior to the site’s redevelopment.

Why are there Drillers and Surveyors at the Marina?

Over the next few weeks, contractors (Golder Associates and W.F. Baird & Associates Coastal Engineers) for the City of Mississauga will be drilling boreholes and installing monitoring wells to collect soil and groundwater samples on the marina lands between Elizabeth and Helene Streets and on the eastern and southern sides of the warehouse/terminal building.  Sediment and water samples will be collected within the waterlot along with completing a survey. This is standard and routine coastal and environmental work that is part of the commitment by the City and Canada Lands Company to protect for a future marina use on site as recommended in the 1 Port Street Master Plan approved by Council on June 8, 2016.
